What is the Center?

The Hill Country Children's Advocacy Center is a non-profit organization created to minimize the trauma of child abuse victims. The Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center is located in a child friendly, home like facility that was built with funds raised through 5 years of fundraising and a grant from the Meadows Foundation. Occupation of our new facility, better known as the “Sunshine House”, occurred in January 1998. The Center celebrated its’ 11th year anniversary on November 1, 2004.
What services are available through the Center?

The Center's programs include:

  • a neutral, child-friendly facility
  • joint investigations
  • video-taped interviews
  • medical examinations, evaluations, and referrals
  • victim advocate / support services
  • case tracking
  • training for professionals in related fields
  • community education

What can the Advocacy Center do for you?

The Center serves abused children, their families, and the professionals dedicated to helping them. A variety of services are offered to you, depending on your needs and the reason that you were referred to the Center. You can always call or email the Center if you have any questions or concerns.

How much does it cost?

All services to child victims and their non-offending family members are free of charge. We are able to offer these services free of charge thanks to grant assistance, area businesses' financial assistance and gifts-in-kind, as well as community support.

If you suspect a child has been abused you are required to make a report.

A suspicion, not proof, is required to make a report. Report suspected abuse immediately to:
CPS 1-800-252-5400 or your local law enforcement.
