• Babies who suffer injury or death from violent shaking are victims of what is called Shaken Baby Syndrome.
• Because babies have weak neck muscles and heavy heads, even a few seconds of shaking can cause serious damage to children up to three years of age.
• Injuries from Shaken Baby Syndrome include: blindness, brain damage, paralysis, mental retardation, seizures, and death.
• Shaken Baby Syndrome is the most frequent cause of permanent damage or death of abused infants & children.
